All sales proceeds of the Bright Ideasbook have gone to international pro bono projects.
As of 2012 more than $7,500 has been donated to Advocates for International Development ( legal support to help end poverty – www.a4id.com) and International Senior Lawyers Project (equitable and sustainable development, human rights, rule of law – www.islp.org).
ELD International selects an issue to receive an annual year-end contribution in honor of clients of our consulting practice. Recent recipients have included CARE (for famine relief in the horn of Africa), World Vision (for family wells to provide needed water, etc.) and Habitat for Humanity (for rebuilding shelter after natural disasters in US). We also support many small but important individual philanthropy projects of our team, our colleagues and community.
Leigh Dance’s work experience in two non-profit organizations has guided her focus of giving back. She worked in a private voluntary organization in Washington on international development (Overseas Education Fund) focused specifically on women (income generation projects, training in food cultivation, and legal aid and credit in women’s economic development). She also worked with the Executive Counsel on Foreign Diplomats in New York, bringing together US business leaders and diplomats posted in America to get to know each other and discuss global economic policy, as well as for the diplomats to get to know Americans from all walks of life, all over the country.
